Blaknie is a graduate of Auburn University with a degree in Hospitality - Event Management and a minor in Business Management. Blaknie began studying Hospitality with the interest in Event Planning and Management. Auburn University provides many hands on expereinces for their Hospitality students to allow an expansion of their knowledge on the industry before entering the industry following graduation. As a part of the Event Managemrnt curriculum, students are required to plan and execute the annual Hospitality Gala. This class is spread out among two semesters. Other courses relavent to event management are Hospitality Speical Events, Event Operations, Beverage Appreciation, and Catering and Event Management.
Food Production - A Night in ParisFood Production in the Hospitality program provides students with management concepts surrounding front of the house and back
of the house culinary operations. Students create a meal service event, including the menu development, ticket sales, food production, cost analysis, and service of meals. |
Study Abroad - French RivieraThis study abroad opportunity not only provided me with the experience of French Tourism and Hospitality, but also the opportunity to evaluate the food culture, social media presence, and the French culture in general. Additionally, my classmates and I collaborated with University of Toulon tourism management students on the Social Media strategies of France.

The Hospitality GalaThe Hospitality Gala is a two semester class that allows students in the Event Management major to plan and execute one of the largest college events at Auburn University each year. The first semester (fall 2019) was used to plan out details such as color scheme, theme, and propose a final design of the events. The second semester is used to meet with vendors and walk through the event space to preparation of the event.
